I am seeing LED based LCD displays now that are over a year old. It appears that they are losing light output much more than expected. On/off contrast also seems to fall significantly along with an increase in the corner flashlight effect with time. The most reliable flat panel technology I have seen so far are the Pioneer plasmas.

Thanks for sharing this. I’ve seen a few people who have bought LED and LCD TVs who have ended up having problems with them. Plasmas seem to be the technology of the future.
