I recently had an opportunity to work on several Marantz AV7005 audio processors. These units are available for around $1500. I found it to be a very capable unit. The audio processing sounded very good and the flexibility of the unit was great for it’s price point. The biggest feature missing from this for me was manual equalization for the subwoofer output. It also lacks the ability to switch a video signal from YCbCr to RGB or visa versa. This can be useful in some displays that handle RGB incorrectly. These include some Pioneer, Mitsubishi and Samsung displays. In the low price audio processor category this is a great unit and very competitive with offerings from Onkyo and Integra.
